Rose Arlotta Farfaglia Raffa Obituary
Mrs. Rose Arlotta Farfaglia Raffa at the age of 92, of 106 Belleview Drive, Canastota, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at the Extended Care Facility, Oneida. She was born on June 29, 1920 in Canastota, the daughter of Alfred and Anna Ennis Arlotta. She was the widow of the late Charles Farfaglia, who died in 1974. Rose later married James J. Raffa on Dec. 31, 1977 in St. Agatha's Church in Canastota.
Rose was a former volunteer director, secretary, treasurer and active member of the Canastota Canal Town Museum, and received a proclamation from the mayor of Canastota, for her continuing service for over 25 years. She received an appreciation award from the state of New York for her dedication and support of housing opportunities from the residents of Canastota in 1992. Rose was a member of St. Agatha's Church in Canastota. She was a graduate of Canastota High School in 1937 and was the salutatorian of her class.
Surviving are her husband, James Raffa, at home; two sons, Charles Farfaglia, of Sandy Hook, Conn. and John Farfaglia of Lockport; one niece, Santina (John) DiNunzi; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Her extended survivors are two stepsons, Joseph N. Raffa of Manlius and James N. Raffa of Massachusetts, and one stepdaughter Isabelle White of Oswego.
Funeral services will be held in St. Agatha's Church in Canastota on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Kevin Maloney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. There are no calling hours, but friends are invited to attend the church service. The Fiore Funeral Home, 317 S.
