ROME >> Sharon Eastman-Allen, 68, of Rome passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 after battling cancer for many years.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1945, the daughter of Edward Rex and Nancy Eastman of North Bay. She was a graduate of Camden High School, Class of 1963. She was united in marriage to George Allen, of Rome on May 15, 1965.
Her most recent employment was with Oneida Silversmiths in Sherrill and the Defense Finance Accounting Service in Rome.
Sharon is survived by her husband, George; son, Gerald and Karen Allen of Camden; son, George Jr. and Sue Allen of Lowell, Mass.; daughter, Wendy and Nat Ruta of Watchung, N.J.; daughter, Kelly and Richard Shaw of Liverpool; and her seven grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Derek and Brendan Allen, Enzo, Alex and Helena Ruta and Emma Shaw. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Gail Eastman of Verona and her sister, Vicki Morgan of Rome. She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers Gregory and Gerald.
Sharon was a long-time active parishioner of the First United Methodist Church in Rome. The family would like to thank the church for their constant support and prayers during her life and especially during her most recent struggles.
The family would also like to thank all of Sharon's wonderful friends and support groups who have given her all of their caring and love during this time.
Calling hours will start at 12 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014 at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, 401-403 N. George St., Rome, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Sharon's memory to First United Methodist Church, 400 N. George St., Rome, N.Y. 13440 or Hospice, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413.
