EATON >> Shirley J. Orth, 81, of Evans Road, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at her home.
The Guest Book is expired.
She was born June 1, 1931 in Oneida, a daughter of Burton and Blanche Curtis Matteson and was a graduate of Morrisville High School. On July 9, 1949, Shirley married John N. Orth in Munnsville. He predeceased her on June 26, 2004. Mrs. Orth was a bus driver/aide for the Morrisville-Eaton Central School District. She had also been a waitress at the Cherry Valley Inn and the West Eaton Hotel at one time. Shirley was very musically inclined. She loved to dance and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She was a member of the Sounds of Silver Sweet Adelines in Oneida. Among her favorite past times were cooking, bowling, playing bingo, and going to the casino. Shirley was generous in her love, caring and nurturing. If you needed to talk she would listen. If you needed to eat (or even if you didn't) she would cook. She loved having her family and friends surrounding her and she was the center of our attention. She was fun-loving and totally selfless. Her good spirit, wit and humor stayed with her until the end.
