ONEIDA CASTLE - Virginia T. Nacewicz, of Oneida Castle, formerly of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility.

She was born in Rome, the daughter of Thomas and Sophie Mindur Lenio. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and Utica School of Business.

On Sept. 19, 1943, Virginia was united in marriage to Joseph A. Nacewicz in Transfiguration Church. Mr. Nacewicz passed away on March 20, 2006.

Virginia was employed by Rome Cable Corp for seventeen years, retiring in 1979. She was previously employed by Marcy Psychiatric Center.

She was a member of Transfiguration Church and Business and Professional Women's Club.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Ann A. Lenio, of Rome; three nieces, Patricia Thayer and Carol Malorzo, both of Rome, and Jacqueline Wilson, of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; three nephews, Ted G. Lenio, of Rome, Thomas D. Lenio, of Liverpool, and Richard Bonczek, of Schenectady. Virginia was predeceased by a sister, Jane S. Bonczek on Oct. 17, 1991, and two brothers, Stanley A. Lenio, on April 30, 1968, and Theodore J. Lenio, on Jan. 28, 1984.

Virginia and her family thank the kind and professional staff and residing friends of the Oneida Extended Care Facility for their loving support provided in her final months.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, and a Mass of the Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Church where the Rev. Joseph N. Sestito will officiate. Interment will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery.
