MUNNSVILLE - William L. "Bill" Mallinder, 80, of 5103 S. Main St. died Monday July 9, 2012 in University Hospital, Syracuse where he had been a patient since May 19, 2012.

Bill was born on Nov. 15, 1931 in Syracuse, the son of George and Marion Douglas Mallinder.

He married Patricia C. Karecki in Syracuse on Sept. 19, 1959. They moved to Munnsville from Norwich in 1990.
Bill was a graduate of Syracuse High Schools and attended Syracuse University.

He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force after serving during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953.

Bill was a self-employed greenhouse operator of Parcel 21 in Munnsville for 20 years, retiring in 2007.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, William and Laura Mallinder of Oneida and Michael Mallinder and his companion, Michele of Florida and four grandchildren, Nate, Tyler, Drew and Brad Mallinder.

Private funeral services with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. 342 Main St., Oneida with Rev. William A. Mesmer officiating.
