MUNNSVILLE >> Jess R. Eaton, 66, of Haslauer Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 at his residence after a long illness.
Born in Augusta, on Sept. 26, 1947, he was a son of Lewis and Hattie Towsley Eaton. Jess was a lifelong resident of the area, and was educated in Madison and Stockbridge Schools. Jess married Linda Leonard in Verona on May 26, 1973.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 36 years with Oneida Limited Silversmiths. Jess served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of the American Legion, Oneida Post No. 169.
Surviving besides his wife, Linda, are two sons, Daryl R. Eaton and Jess J. Eaton, both of Munnsville; one stepdaughter and her companion, Sandy Klein and Ron Prezeau of Oneida; three stepsons, Earl Clark of Oneida, Joseph Clark of Utica and Jeff R. Clark of Auburn; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Leonard of Munnsville; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Bertha Dillman of Munnsville and Beverly and Rich Lorei of North Carolina; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ernest and Beatrice Eaton of Knoxboro and Robert Eaton of Canastota; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eight step-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; a nephew, James Woodcock who was like a brother; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Martha Wells, Dorothy Le Beau, Elsie Newhouse, and Joyce Jost; five brothers, Erwin, LeRoy, Lewis, George, and Lester Eaton.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Contributions, in his memory, can be made to the Family Fund, care of the funeral home.
