Dale H. Parker Obituary
ONEIDA >> Dale H. Parker, 70, Grandmother Moon, Village of the White Pines, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at his residence, following an illness of the past 18 months.
Born in Rome, on April 9, 1943, he was a son of James H. and Dorothy Sweatland Parker. A lifelong resident of this area, with exception of briefly living in Oklahoma, Dale was a graduate of Camden High School. He married Laurel Collett in Vienna, on Sept. 17, 1966.
Prior to his illness, Dale was an antique and flea market dealer and previously had raised and trained blue tick hounds when he owned and operated Mad River Kennels. He also, for a living, raced cars in the Midwest and later carried that desire for racing to the Utica-Rome Speedway and winter car racing on Oneida Lake. Dale was a veteran of the United States Army for eight years, serving a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was of the Christian faith and was a member of several kennel organizations.
Surviving besides his wife, Laurel, are his mother, Dorothy Parker of Yukon, Okla.; two sisters, Janice and her husband, John Stephen of Livingston, Texas and Cathy Parker of Yukon, Okla.; one brother, James P. and his wife, Bonnie Parker of Blossvale; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, 1-3 p.m. Thursday. There will be a gathering at the Oneida Nation Cookhouse 3:30-5 p.m., Thursday.
