CANASTOTA >> Clarence E. Pratt, 81, formerly of 4596 Whitman Road, Canastota, died on Monday, April 1, 2014, at Crouse Community Center, Morrisville, following a brief illness.
He was born on April 4, 1932, in Camden, a son of Leslie, Sr. and Emma Deeley Pratt.
Clarence spent his early years in Camden, attending the Camden schools. He later lived in Munnsville and Morrisville for many years, moving to Canastota in 1993.
He worked on farms in Munnsville and Morrisville for many years, and later worked for Isadore Rapasadi & Sons in Canastota for 20 years.
Clarence enjoyed farm animals, collecting horse statues, farming, and spending time with his family.
He married Anna P. Snyder on July 24, 1954, in Clockville. Anna died on Oct. 20, 2011.
Surviving are: four daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann and Tim Wagner of Indiana, Betty and Ray Angle of Utica, and Emma Nodine and Patricia Thomson, both of Canastota; one sister and brother-in-law, Inez "Susie" and Joseph Zawally of Fleetwood, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Clarence was predeceased by a grandson, John S. Nodine, Jr.; eight brothers, Ronald, Edward, Donald, Leslie, Jr., Harold, George, William, and Ernest Pratt; and two sisters, Sylvia Smith and Amy Spadter.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. The Rev. William M. Wilcox, pastor of the Fyler Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Whitelaw Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota. In his memory, contributions may be made to Crouse Community Center, 101 South St., Morrisville, N.Y. 13408, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
