MADISON >> Clara Barletta Sauerhafer Kidston, 79, died peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Faxton-St. Luke's Hospital.
Clara was born in Canajoharie, on Nov. 2, 1934, a daughter of the late ArCongelo and Yolonda Yacobucci Barletta. She grew up in Canajoharie and graduated from Canajoharie High School. Later, Clara moved to the Madison area to raise her family. She met and found her life soul mate, and later married, Richard "Dick" Kidston. Their two families became one, and were known as the "Dirty Dozen." Clara retired from Oneida Limited. She had previous worked at GE in Utica. In her retirement, she enjoyed buying and selling antiques. She was known for her wonderful cooking, warm heart, and open door. You couldn't leave her home without a smile, a hug, and a great conversation. She was a pillar in her family and will forever be missed.
Clara is survived by her husband and soul mate of 50 years, Richard "Dick" Kidston; her children, John Sauerhafer, Jesse (Dennis) Renninger, Glen Sauerhafer, Bonnie (Hugh) Wratten, Patty (Mark) Curtis, Susan (Wayne) Andrews, Earl "Buddy" Sauerhafer, Richard (Patty) Kidston, Jr., and Regina Spell; her sisters, Irene Stella Barletta, Jean Barletta, and Stella Vanderwaker; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Clara was predeceased by a daughter, Bonnie Sue Kidston Carley and her brother, Mike Barletta.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Paul Funeral Home of Madison. Interment will be in Madison Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. prior to the service.
