MESSENGER'S BAY >> Linda J. Zick, 72, formerly of Eddy Road, Canastota (Messenger's Bay), died on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on Dec. 8, 1941, in Oneida, a daughter of John and Wilma Eddy Zick.
Linda lived in Messenger's Bay most of her life, and was a 1959 graduate of Chittenango High School. She has been a resident of the Extended Care Facility for the past two years.
She worked as an office coordinator for K-Mart in Mattydale for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
Linda loved her nieces and nephews, animals, especially the dogs she has had over the years.
Surviving are: her sister, Vallie Sterling of Canastota; nieces and nephews, Theresa and Gary Olmsted of Oneida, Rick and Kate Sterling of Oshkosh, Wis., Ken and Nikki Sterling of Oswego, N.Y., Julie Sterling of Oneida, and Maria and Bob Bisceglia of Mars, Pa.; several great nieces and nephews; as well as cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home, Inc., Canastota. Pastor Donna Chapman of the Whitelaw Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oneida Lake Cemetery, Messenger's Bay. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home, 201 James St., Canastota. In her memory, contributions may be made to Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc., P.O. Box 535, Canastota, N.Y. 13032, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
