CANASTOTA >> Cherie E. Barker, 70, Seeber Road, died in the comfort of her home, Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
A daughter of Marion ""Jake"" and Marion Chase Ramsdall, she was born in Canastota on Dec. 22, 1943. A lifelong resident of the area, Cherie was a graduate of Canastota High School. She married Michael B. Barker in Wampsville on July 10, 1982.
Cherie was a graphic artist at the former Smith Lee Company, Inc., for 30 years. She enjoyed camping, painting, and spending time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed the company of her special friends Donna Gaglioti and Joann Larkin.
Surviving besides her husband are her mother, Marion Ramsdall of Canastota; her two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Robert Lastine of North Bay, and Kathleen Moore and her fiancé Thomas Wesolowski, of Chittenango; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith L. and Tracy Miller of Oneida; two step-sons, Michael Barker of Canastota and Randy Barker of Lakeport; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Patricia and Len Spadter of Sherrill, Lynn Dunn of Canastota, and Renee and Robert Lohr of Canastota; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Marion Ramsdell and a sister, Brenda Ramsdall.
Funeral services will be held 6 p.m., Friday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 300 S. Peterboro St., Canastota, with Chaplain Jill Farnham-Us, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, 2-6 p.m., Friday, prior to the service.
