Dorothy A. Gildersleeve Obituary
ONEIDA - Dorothy A. Gildersleeve, 85, of North Lake Street, on Thursday evening, Dec. 16, 2010, at her residence, following a brief illness.
Born in Lincoln Park, N.J. on March 7, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Margaret McIntyre Clark. A resident of Oneida for the past thirty years, Mrs. Gildersleeve was educated in New Jersey. She married John Gildersleeve. Mr. Gildersleeve passed away Aug. 31, 1969.
While residing in greater New York, Mrs. Gildersleeve owned and operated a landscaping service with her late husband. Upon moving to Oneida, she became a homemaker to her children. Mrs. Gildersleeve was of the Catholic faith, attending St. Joseph's Church and the Church of the Holy Family.
Surviving are four daughters and one son-in-law, Mary, Gloria and Theresa Gildersleeve and Ginger and Robert Britton all of Oneida; three sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Ann Gildersleeve of Copiague, N.J., David Gildersleeve of Canastota and Robert Gildersleeve of Oneida; five grandchildren, John and Star Gildersleeve, Danielle Sullivan, Don and Christopher Marsh; four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Ryleigh, Christopher and Taydem Marsh. She was predeceased by one daughter, Margaret Dorothy in 1967; one son William in 2006 and one brother, John J. Clark who died in the Korean War in September 1950.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday from St. Joseph's Church, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Richard Kapral, pastor. Spring interment will be made in Stockbridge Cemetery. There are no prior hours of visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida, NY 13421.
