Karen Dockstader Obituary

CANASTOTA - Mrs. Karen A. Hill Dockstader, wife of Basil Dockstader Jr. at the age of 58 of 2864 Whitelaw Road, Canastota, N.Y. 13032 , died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011 at the Oneida Health Care, Oneida, N.Y. after a sudden illness. She was born on March 20, 1953 in Syracuse, a daughter of Oliver and Beatrice Wheelock Hill. She married her husband Basil at the Longhouse at the Onondaga Nation in Syracuse, N.Y. on Sept. 11, 1971. She was employed at the Oneida Nation as a clerk for several years. Karen was a member of the Oneida Nation Turtle Clan. She was a resident of Whitelaw for the past seven years.
Surviving beside her husband Basil at home are two sons, Jason (Caralee) Dockstader of Vernon and Basil (Crystal) Dockstader III; two daughters, Kellie Dockstader of Oneida, and Krissy (Mike) Van Patten of Oneida, N.Y.; six brothers, Oliver Hill Jr., Sidney Hill Sr., Clint Hill, Bruce Hill, Clyde Hill and Carl Fogelberg; two sisters, Virginia Abrams and Shirley Hill, and grandchildren, Kalynn, Erin, Levi, Jaden, Breanna, Alayna, Carson, Kal^:na, Chad, Chelsea, Samantha, Jessie, Alexander, Connor, Cameron and Ava and her extended family including her aunt Brenda Bush and uncle Glen Wheelock along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at the Longhouse of the Oneida Nation, Territory Road, Oneida on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at noon. Burial will be in the Oneida Nation Cemetery. Calling hours will be all day Friday (today) at the family residence, at 2864 Whitelaw Road, Canastota, N.Y.

I am so sad to hear this news! I just found out about this 3 days ago. You know Ma, I would have been there for you in a second! I will miss you so much. your smile and gentle voice calling me "Pebbles" will be with me forever. We had many talks about your family in my office at the Nation health dept. You are the ultimate mother, Always thinking of the kids and grandkids. This is a tradition you passed on to your children. They are all wonderful parents because of you and your dedication to each of them. Rest my friend. Wanda

I am very sorry for the loss of Karen. I worked with Krissy at one time and also know Kellie and Basil. I had an opportunity to meet her a few times, and she was a wonderful woman. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family!

I met Karen and her family for the very first time this past Friday, my team bowled against her team and I just have to say they were the nicest family ever. They were there to laugh, have a good time and support one another and they were even supporting our team!! What an inspiration their whole family is. It was so very sad to hear of Karen's passing. Thoughts and prayers to all of her friends and family!!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Dockstader Family, she was a very Bright person! I can remember when I went to bingo with her, Sue, n Krissy and we laughed so hard that night! She always made me smile as Im sure she made many others smile as well! Very warm hearted and she will be greatly missed
