Helen B. Marshall Obituary
Helen B. Marshall, 83, Cramer Road, died Saturday evening, April 7, 2012, in Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, surrounded by her family, where she had been a patient for the past two days.
Born in Oneida, on Oct. 5, 1928, she was the daughter of Ernest W. and Minnie Ginofeik Braendle. A lifelong resident of the area, Helen was a graduate and class valedictorian of Stockbridge Valley Central School, Class of 1946 and attended Keuka College. She married L. Douglas Marshall in Stockbridge United Methodist Church on March 18, 1950. Doug died on Dec. 18, 2008.
Helen assisted in the ownership and operation of the Wintercrest Farms, with her late husband which continues under the ownership of her son, Douglas and his wife, Sandy. She also assisted in the organization and operation of the annual Wintercrest Invitational Sales and also was employed part-time with Dr. Calvin Bowne. Helen was a member of the Pratts Hollow and Stockbridge United Methodist Churches, a life member of the Morrisville Fire Department where she served as an emergency medical technician, was active in the Ladies Auxiliary and served as a Grand Marshal for the department parade, a member of the Morrisville Garden Club and enjoyed her family, landscaping, gardening, NASCAR and the New York Yankees.
Surviving are her daughters, Brenda Marshall of Tampa, Fla. and Lisa Marshall of Pratts Hollow; her sons and daughters-in-law, Rand and Deb Marshall of Georgetown, and Rob and Kim Marshall and Douglas and Sandy Marshall, all of Pratts Hollow; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Todd Marshall in October of 1975.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday from Stockbridge United Methodist Church, Stockbridge, with the Rev. Gary Spraker, pastor, officiating. Interment will be made in Stockbridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the church, noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to the Morrisville Fire Department, Box 244, Morrisville, NY 13408 or the Stockbridge-Pratts Hollow United Methodist Churches, Box 178, Munnsville, NY 13409. Envelopes may be obtained at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main St., Oneida.
