REMSEN - Paul G. Kruger Sr., 76, of East Steuben Road passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 18, 2012 with his loving family at his side.
He was born on Aug. 24, 1935 in Munnsville, N.Y. a son of the late J. Paul and Vera (Hebble) Kruger and was a graduate of VVS Central School and attended Morrisville College.
After high school Paul enlisted with the U.S. Army and those years of service made him a proud American.
In 1956 he was united in marriage with Mary Boyce in St. Catherine's Church in Vernon and the couple has shared a loving union of over 55 years together.
Prior to his retirement in 2000 Paul was employed as superintendent at the Masonic Youth Camp in Woodgate, N.Y.
Paul was a member of the VFW and F&A Masons.
He was a loving, generous and ambitious man of many talents. His supportive family has beautiful memories and is grateful for his life of such meaning.
Surviving are his loving wife Mary of Remsen; one son, Paul G. Kruger Jr. of Rome; one daughter, Kim Weckesser of Rome; one brother, Donald Kruger of Rome; grandchildren, Chantel (Justin) Schultz, Johanna (David) Leary, Loni James Weckesser , Taylor and Corey Kruger and six great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Malecki Funeral Home Inc., 23 Front St., Vernon. Paul's funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Rowland officiating. The Masonic Lodge will hold a ritualistic service for their brother Paul at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Private burial with military honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Irish Ridge Road, Durhamville, N.Y. will be at the convenience of the family. In memory of Paul donations may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
