ONEIDA >> William E. "Bill" Baxter Jr. 76, of 337 North Main Street Oneida died Friday morning April 19, 2013 in St. Elizabeth's Hospital Utica following complications from surgery.
William was born on December 18, 1936 in Binghamton the son of William E. and Florence Evans Baxter Sr. He attended school in the Binghamton area.
A resident of Oneida since 2006, he had resided many years in Stuart, FL.
He married Gloria M. Vilandre on June 30, 1972 in Dewitt, NY.
Bill had been employed for 15 years as a health inspector by the city of Stuart, FL retiring in 2006. He had previously been a self employed farmer.
He had been a member and officer with the Stuart
No. 1870 and a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Stuart Lodge No. 1282. He was also a member of the New York State Horse Pull Assn.
Surviving is his wife Gloria, six children; Cindy (Scott) Pierce of Cato, Kenny (Charlotte) Baxter of Cato, Randy (Maryann) Baxter of Niagara Falls, Becky Baxter of Niagara Falls, Kathy (Wayne) Charette of Oneida and Barbara Brownell of Wampsville, one brother Rev. Leon (Martha) Baxter of Port Crane, 19 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Howard Baxter.
Funeral Services will be held 6:00 PM Monday from the Ironside Funeral Home, Inc. with his brother Rev. Leon Baxter officiating. Friends are invited and may call 4-6 PM prior to the service at the funeral home 342 Main Street Oneida.
