Raymond F. Driscoll Obituary
MANLIUS >> Raymond F. Driscoll, 84, of Manlius, entered unto rest at home with his family by his side on Jan. 27, 2014.
Ray was born on Aug. 29, 1929 in Hempstead, Long Island, a son of the late Raymond and Ellen Virginia O'Donnell Driscoll. He graduated from LaSalle Academy in New York City and Farmingdale Technical and Agricultural College in Long Island. Ray was a dairy farmer for 40 years, starting out as a hired man and working his way up to ownership of the farm. He also worked 22 years as a lighting specialist for Robbins Rarities, retiring in 2013. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Manlius. Ray enjoyed dancing, outdoor work and meeting, visiting and helping people. As a lighting specialist he met and enjoyed many special acquaintances and friends. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Julia Marie Driscoll in 1964 and grandson, Cody Driscoll in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bernice Aldag Driscoll; five daughters, Patricia (Mark) Kroneck of LaFayette, Colleen (Matt) Kurdziolek of Williamsburg, Va., Andrea Davidson of Manlius, Megan (Andy) Hjort of Oneida and Regina Driscoll of Saratoga, Calif.; two sons, Matt (Debbie) Driscoll of Pasco, Wash. and Justin (Gloria) Driscoll of Ridgefield, Conn.; four sisters, Ellain Nowak of Hempstead, Patricia Glennon of Mt. Sinai, Barbara Sherry of Hempstead and Karen Sulenski of San Francisco, Calif.; brother, Lawrence K. "Rusty" Driscoll of Whippany, N.J.; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 9:15 a.m. Saturday at Newell-Fay Manlius Chapel and 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, 104 Academy St., Manlius. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chittenango. Family and friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 8171 Cazenovia Road (Rt. 92), Manlius.
