Frances Teresa Parlow Obituary
BROOKLYN >> Frances Teresa (Izyk) Dean Parlow, 90, of 9303 Shore Road, Brooklyn, N.Y. died peacefully on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 surrounded by her family. Frances was born on April 12, 1923 in Oswego, N.Y. to the late John and Frances (Szczech) Izyk. She attended Oswego public schools.
A resident of Canastota since 1956, Frances retired after 35 years at Carrier Air Conditioning Corporation before moving to DeLand, Fla. in 1985 where she was active in several bowling leagues and social clubs. She was especially proud of her membership in the Yaru Shrine Guild of DeLand, having served as a past Maharani, and their charitable work for the Shriner's Hospitals for Children. Frances was a volunteer Pink Lady at the DeLand Memorial Hospital for many years.
Frances is survived by her five children, Marcia L. Rafte (James Sr.) of Oneida, Marlene Parlow of Oneida, Marilyn Clark of Brooklyn, Mary E. Rodgers of Elmira and Martin Parlow of Cazenovia; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, William R. Dean and her second husband, George C. Parlow, Jr., 11 siblings, Stanley, Anna Florence, Violet, Joseph, Violet, Frankie, Elsie Mulcahey, Dickey, Edward, John, and Billy. She also suffered the loss of a great-grandchild, Frances Jacobs.
Frances requested that she be a full anatomical donation to the SUNY Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn. A memorial Mass will be held on April 12, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Oneida at 11:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life at the home of Marcia and James Rafte. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Frances' name to the .
