Martha Whitehead Faw, age 84, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
A native of Athens, Mrs. Faw was the daughter of the late James Fred Whitehead and Floy Landrum Whitehead, and was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Wesley Faw.
Mrs. Faw was a dedicated, life-long Christian servant, an Elder, and served as choir director at Friendship Christian Church. Among many accomplishments, she served as President of the Christian Women's Fellowship of Georgia from 1981-1984; 2nd Vice-Moderator for The Christian Church in Georgia from 1992-1993, and President of International Christian Women's Fellowship from 1986-1990. Mrs. Faw served on the Executive Committee for the ICWF Quadrennial Assembly from 1957-1990, and served as Director for Quadrennial Music Hall Programming from 1957-1986. She also co-authored two books: "In the Fullness of Time" and "So Great a Cloud."
Survivors include her son, Judson David Faw, and his wife, Debra, of Issaquah, Wash.; step-daughter, Cynthia Faw, of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Carolyn Wheeler, of Bogart; three grandsons, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Friendship Christian Church, with the Revs. Doug Job, Douglas M. Ivey, and Betty Brewer-Calvert officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
