William N. Bradberry Jr., age 81, of Atlanta, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013.
A native of Bishop, Mr. Bradberry was the son of Gladys Hayes Bradberry, of High Shoals, and the late William N. Bradberry Sr. He was a graduate of Oconee County High School and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia
. Upon graduation, he began his 26-year career as a U.S. Army officer, and served his county in the Panama Canal Zone, Germany, Vietnam, Iran, and many U.S. bases, including service at the Pentagon, in Washington, D.C. After retiring from the military, Bill earned his MBA and started his second career as a sale representative for American Hospital, International Paper, and Dillard Paper. Retiring again at the age of 70, Bill spent time traveling and with his family.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his daughter, Pam Layne, of Athens; sons, Bill Bradberry, of Athens, and Jeffrey Bradberry, of Atlanta; brothers, Harry and Jim Bradberry, both of High Shoals; and grandchildren, Kaitlin Bradberry, Melinda Layne, and Taylor Layne.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, January 28, in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home, with the Revs. Chuck Hodges and Martha Aenchbacher officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the service. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
