Dear Sally,

Patty and I offer you our deepest sympathy on the great loss of your beloved "Doc". He was a great and fascinating man and friend to both of us. I enjoyed being around him and listening to him and his remarkable and memorable experiences. He was an excellent teacher as he related so much of his life. We will miss him. We certainly wish you God's best as you mourn the loss of "Doc".

Love,

Patty and Joe Mellen

Dear Sally, my deepest sympathies for Doc's passing. He was a wonderful man.

You probably don't remember me, but back in 1997, I worked with Doc on his autobiography. I was a freelance writer living in Athens at the time. I now live in Seattle. He had an incredibly full, fascinating and wonderful life. I'm not sure if he ever did anything with the effort, or if you ever read it, but I still have all the Word files, including his originals and the book chapters that I wrote from his source material. Would be happy to send, if you'd like.

Again, my condolences and prayers.
