Loyd Bowden Obituary

Athens - Loyd William Bowden, 79, died March 19, 2009.
Born in Clarkesville, Ga., he was the son of the late Edward Boone and Mary Wade Stonesypher Bowden and was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Monica Bowden; and brother, Forrest Bowden.
Mr. Bowden was retired as District Operator with Georgia Power Company, following 39 years of service. He was a member of the Ambassadors Club of Athens, the Elks Club and McDonald's Coffee Club. Mr. Bowden was an elder of Tattnall First Presbyterian Church of Macon and member of First Presbyterian Church of Athens for 37 years.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Marion Bowden; sons, Sixleth Rainmaker, and his wife, Susan, of Athens and Michael Bowden of Macon; and grandchildren, Cameron Bowden, Nicholas Bowden, Nicholas Rainmaker and Morgan Bowden. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Muffin.
Memorial services will be Sunday, March 22, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST, with Dr. John Kipp, Chaplain Dennis Dodge and Sixleth (Randy Bowden) Rainmaker officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

I knew Loyd through Georgia Power Company for many years. although most of my conversations with him were over the radio, he was a great guy and so personable. My thoughts and prayers to his family at this difficult time. I know he will be missed by many.
