Delane C. Borron, age 65, of Bogart, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.
Born in Kirksville, Mo., Delane was the son of Ruth Polson Borron, of Winigan, Mo., and the late Almo E. Borron. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1971, and was a graduate of the University of Georgia, receiving his Master of Science in 1973 and his Ph.D. in 1978. While at UGA, he was a member of the Gamma Sigma Delta Honor Society of Agriculture. He retired as Division Manager of Gold Kist/Pilgrim's Pride in 2007, following 31 years of service.
Delane always had a love for tools and craftsmanship. In his retirement, he enjoyed restoring antiques and antique tools. He was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church and Rick Brittain's Sunday School class.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Linda O. Borron, and son, Brent Lane Borron, both of Bogart; brother, Michael (Brenda) Borron, of Winigan, Mo.; sister, Carol (Bud) Payne, of LaPlata, Mo.; father- and mother-in-law, Winfred and Geraldine Ogle, of Kirksville, Mo.; and nephews, Jason and Jeffrey Borron, and Garrett, Preston, and Kendrick Payne.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 2, at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, at the Lord & Stephens West Chapel, with the Rev. Bill Ricketts and Mr. Rick Brittain officiating. Interment will be at Oconee Memorial Park.
The pallbearers will be Donnie Wilburn, Wendell Shelton, Ricky Thompson, Bud Payne, Bruce Borron, Jim Marsh, and Tommy Ruark. The honorary pallbearers will be Dale Hulsey, George Turk, Norman Robinson, Al Westmoreland, Mike Nations, Kerry Preslar, Bobby Evans, Jason and Jeffrey Borron, and Garrett, Preston, and Kendrick Payne.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary's Hospice House, 1660 Jennings Mill Rd., Bogart, GA 30622.
