Fina "Fika" Gozes Konfino, age 90, of Elberton, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

A native of Sliven, Bulgaria, Fika was the daughter of Jacob Gozes and Miriam Menahem Gozes. She was a graduate of the American College, in Sofia, Bulgaria, and she lived through and survived the Holocaust and the subsequent Communist invasion of Bulgaria. In 1945, she married Anri Konfino, who survives her after 67 years of marriage.
Fika emigrated with her husband and young child, David Konfino, to Israel, where she witnessed the birth of that nation and lived there for the first 10 years of its existence. In December of 1959, she and her family came to Elberton, where she has lived ever since. During this time, she was employed as the Shipping Manager of Rilla Inc., a subsidiary of Elberton Manufacturing Company, and retired at age 80, after 55 years of employment. She had also been a member of Congregation Children of Israel since the early 1960s.
Survivors include her husband, Anri Konfino, of Elberton; son, David Konfino, and his wife, Marilyn, of Miami, Fla.; granddaughter, Arielle Konfino Cohen, and her husband, Jason, of Dallas, Texas; step-granddaughter, Tamara Shane, of Miami, Fla.; and step-grandson, Daniel Benitez, of New York City, N.Y.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 10, at Oconee Hill Cemetery, with Rabbis Linder and Gerson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, 4 Medical Drive, Elberton, GA 30635.
