Frank H. Foster, age 92, of Athens, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013.

A native of Asheville, N.C., Mr. Foster was the son of the late Harlie and Susie Foster, and was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Virginia Foster.
Mr. Foster served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II and the Korean Conflict. During World War II, he was a member of the 373rd Bombardment Squadron with the 11th Bombardment group. Mr. Foster flew 27 combat missions during World War II and logged 217 hours of combat time. He earned the rank of Captain and several medals during his 11-year career, including an American Theater Service Medal, a World War II Victory Campaign Medal, an Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, an Overseas Service Ribbon, and a Distinguished Unit Badge.
Following his military service, Mr. Foster had a lengthy career with the Federal Aviation Administration and retired in 1973.
Survivors include his son, Frank Foster Jr., and his wife, Diane; daughter, Sharon Virginia Pye, and her husband, Ray; grandson, Austin Pye; granddaughter, Terrie Foster Clark, and her husband, Kelly; and great-granddaughter, Julia Mann.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
