Fred Wayne Burroughs, age 84, of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013.

A native of Cordele, Mr. Burroughs was the son of the late Walter Eugene Burroughs and Matry Moss Burroughs, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Berryman Burroughs, and brothers, Walter and Lester Burroughs. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired from the United States Postal Service.
Mr. Burroughs was a member of Hull Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and treasurer. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4
Survivors include his son, Philip Wayne Burroughs, of Athens; daughter, Kim Camille Little, and her husband, Jerry, of Ringgold; brother, Bobby Burroughs, and his wife, Mary Lois, of Harlem, and grandchildren, Erin, Amanda, and Clint Little.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, at Bernstein Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 25, in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home, with the Revs. Randy Crowe and Jerry Little officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
