Helen was a Christian first and an active servant for her Lord at Forest Heights Baptist Church, where she taught the Friendship Bible Class for several years. She had a passion to share her faith with others. She also loved flowers, especially orchids, and just "playing in the dirt."

She is survived by her husband, Otis C. "O.C." Howington; daughter, Pat H. Johnson (and husband, Rex Johnson), of Watkinsville; son, Bobby Howington (and wife, Dianne H. Howington), also of Watkinsville; grandchildren, Tonia Askew, Robert Askew, David Howington, and Christopher Howington (and wife, Leandra Howington); great-grandchildren, Nicky Williams, Melissa Fitzpatrick, and Georgia Howington; great-great-grandchildren, Taylin, Brennin, Brogan, Maddie, and C.J.; nieces and nephews; and her daughter in Christ, Carletta Brown, who loved and cared for her.
