Lee Cornelius "Neil" Bowden, age 85, of Greenville, S.C., widower of Dorma Jeanne Fayssoux Bowden, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Athens, Mr. Bowden was a son of the late Lee Crawford and Thelma Williamson Bowden. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, an Eagle Scout, and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was retired from Fluor-Daniel after years of service.
Mr. Bowden was a graduate of University of Georgia and earned a master's degree from Auburn University. He was a member of the UGA Arch Society and a devoted Georgia Bulldog supporter.
Mr. Bowden is survived by his daughter, Amy Bowden (David) Mathis; sons, Lee. C. (Jean) Bowden Jr., Rhea F. (Nancy) Bowden, and John B. Bowden; granddaughter, Margaret "Meg" Bowden; daughter-in-law, Nancy Haile Bowden; six nieces, and many friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Patrick Bowden.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, at the Mackey Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, January 11, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Nelson Stokes. Interment will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 11, in Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Athens YMCA Camp, P.O. Box 8, Tallulah Falls, GA 30573; or to the Boy Scouts of America, Blue Ridge Council, 1 Park Plaza, Greenville, SC 29607.
