Marguerite Emily Bareiss Provost, of Bishop, passed peacefully on January 15, 2014.
Born in Springfield, Mass., on March 2, 1924, to Hildebrand and Lena Peters Bareiss, Mrs. Provost graduated from Palmer High School, Palmer, Mass., on June 22, 1941. She earned a Registered Nursing Certificate from the State of Massachusetts on May 1, 1945, and joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, from which she was honorably discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant on November 26, 1945, having received the World War II Victory Medal.
On May 10, 1947, Mrs. Provost received a Registered Nurse license from the State of Indiana; on February 19, 1953, from the State of Washington; and on March 15, 1962, from the State of Georgia.
Mrs. Provost was married to the late Ernest E. Provost, of Needham, Mass., and is survived by two sons: Randall (Vicki) Provost, of Sylva, N.C., and Wayne (Susan) Provost, of Bishop; and five grandchildren: Joli, Beverly, Nicholas, Michelle, and Renee Provost.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the E.E. Provost Undergraduate Fisheries & Wildlife Scholarship, Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, The University of Georgia, Athens, GA 30602-2152.
