Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of Mr. Marion Ernest "Butch" Brinson Jr., age 67, of Midville, on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at the University Hospital, in Augusta.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, at Midville City Cemetery, with the Rev. Tony Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. Terry Joyner. The family will receive friends at the residence in Midville one hour prior to the service and one hour following the service.
Mr. Brinson was a native of Midville, a U.S. Army veteran, and a retired epidemiologist with the State Health Department. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. He was a former Mayor and present Council Member for the City of Midville, and was a member of the Midville Lions Club, Midville Moccasin Club, and the Midville United Methodist Church.
Mr. Brinson was preceded in death by his parents, Marion E. and Dorothy Petty Brinson.
Survivors include his son, Seth Brinson, of Midville, and sister, Beth Brinson (Dick) Dyer, of Columbia, S.C.
