Selig "Sy" Glauser, age 89, of Athens, died on July 12, 2014. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 19, 1925 to the late Bertha Wallenstein Glauser and the late Abraham Glauser; he was preceded in death by his sister, the late Ester Diamond; and by his brother, the late Marty Glauser. He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II as a navigator in the Pacific Theater. After graduating from Temple University, he enjoyed a long career as a sales executive. After retirement, he volunteered his time towards mentoring youth and serving at St. Mary's Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Glauser of Athens; sons, Dr. William "Bill" and Julianna Glauser of Holly Springs, NC; Ed and Dr. Ann Glauser of Athens; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Congregation Children of Israel with Rabbi Eric Linder and Rabbi Ronald Gerson officiating. A Shiva Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm at the Temple.
