Robert William Strickland was welcomed into the arms of Jesus early Sunday morning, January 8th, 2017. He was met there by his beloved wife, Rebecca Christopher Strickland, his parents Thurmond J. and Thelma Moseman Strickland and two sisters.
Mr. Strickland retired in 1970 as Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. In 1996, he retired from the University of Georgia as a Procurement Officer after 25 years of service. He attended Ray's United Methodist Church.
He was a strong man both physically and in opinion. He was an avid hunter and beagler. He loved nothing more than a good country music song and the sound of his dogs running a rabbit. His generous spirit and commanding personality were always at the center of his family. He loved them fiercely and was so proud of Linda, Todd, and their families. He took pride in his children and grandchildren never missing an opportunity to tell them so. He will be missed greatly by those he leaves behind.
His children Linda and Lamar Williamson of Arnoldsville, Todd and Rhonda Strickland of Watkinsville, five grandchildren, Tara Keeler, Matthew Williamson, Brooke James, Hannah Hunt and Grace Strickland, and ten great grandchildren will be a reflection of him and the love he so freely gave.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements. www.lordandstephens.com
