Carlton Farmer, age 84 of Good Hope, GA, passed away Monday, December 24, 2012. A funeral service will be held 2 PM Friday, December 28, 2012 at Mars Hill Baptist Church, Watkinsville. Dr. Charles Jones will officiate. Burial will follow at Hill Haven Memory Gardens. Mr. Farmer was raised in Good Hope and graduated from Good Hope High School in 1946. He played basketball and was Team Captain. He was an exceptional person serving his community and church. Mr. Farmer was a member of the Lion's Club for 50 years, serving as President several times in Monroe & Oconee County. He also received the Lion of the Year Award several times; and the Lion's Outstanding Service Award and the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lion's International. He was a member of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce serving as President. Mr. Farmer was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church; where he served as Deacon Emeritus and Chairman of Deacons numerous times. He also retired from Walton E M C after 30 plus years of service. Mr. Farmer was preceded in death by his Son: David Farmer. He is survived by his Wife of 62 years: Lois Farmer; Children: Dennis (Laura) Farmer of Conway, SC, Dean Farmer of Good Hope, and Dianne (Ted) Brown of Winder; Brothers: William Farmer and Kent Farmer; Sisters: Carolyn Watson and Joyce Reynolds; Grandchildren: Mary Anne (Brad) Tillman, Brandt (Megan) Farmer, Chelse (Corey) Maddox, Zach Farmer, Becky Farmer, Laura Beth Brown and Landon Brown; and 4 Great Grandchildren.
