June Gordon Carr died with her family by her side on July 19, 2012, in Watkinsville.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 23, in the chapel of Fisher Funeral Home, in Cochran, with visitation to follow. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery, in Dodge County.
June was born on May 30, 1940, in Pineview, to Hardy and Dorothy Gordon. She graduated from Pineview High School in 1958 and married Roger Carr in 1960, settling in Oconee County with him shortly after their marriage.
June attended Georgia Southern and the University of Georgia. She started one of the first daycare centers in Oconee County, Circle C Nursery. She also worked as the advertising manager at the Oconee Enterprise in the 1980s. Later, she owned three Merle Norman studios in Athens and Macon. She loved her family, cooking, and cross stitching, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include her ex-husband, J. Roger Carr; her children and their spouses, Rheema and Jamie Capra, and Rodney and Elizabeth Carr; her grandchildren, Clay Capra and Emma Carr; and her sisters and their spouses, Helen and Ted Laster, and Cathy Sue and Mark Coody.
Fisher Funeral Home, of Cochran, has charge of arrangements.
