Norma Cason Wilson Cheek, 93, passed away on Saturday May 10, 2014.
A native of Tippetville, GA, Mrs. Cheek was the daughter of the late Warren Whitis Cason and Ellen Noble Cason and was preceded in death by her first husband, Julian Page Wilson, grandson, Warren Julian Wilson, and was the widow of Earl H. Cheek Sr. She graduated from Dooly County High School and attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA.
Mrs. Cheek was employed at Robins Air Force Base for 20 years in the Material Management Directorate. She served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society since 1973. She was a member of the Perry Pilot Club and served as its President twice. Mrs. Cheek was a charter member of the Perry Book Browers Club, was a member of the Perry Historical Society where she served as secretary, was a member of the Delphian Club where she served as president and a member of the University of Georgia Presidents Club. Mrs. Cheek was a long-time active member of Perry First Baptist Church and the Dot Hardy Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a daughter Dr. Judith Wilson, son Sonny Wilson and wife Kristine of Bogart; two grandchildren, Rebecca Wilson Powell and husband, Keith of Perry, GA and Manda Wilson of Bogart, GA; two great-grandchildren, Anna Claire Wilson, and Claire Abigail Powell, sister Lois Wooten of Savannah, step-children, Earl H. Cheek, Jr. and wife, Becky of Baton Rouge, LA, Carol Ann Barckley and husband, Ken of Fountain Valley, CA, and Mary Frances Larimer of Covington, GA; five grandsons, and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3PM, Sunday, May 25th at Perry First Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Perry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5-7PM at Watson-Hunt and Sunday at the church from 1:30PM until funeral hour.
