Sedolia "Dolie" Carpenter Perrett, age 88, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2013.
For the last 13 years, Mrs. Perrett resided at Iris Place, enjoying her friends and playing bridge. She became part of the Young Harris United Methodist Church family in 2010.
Mrs. Perrett was born on July 27, 1924, in Silver Lake, Texas, to Edward H. and Jettie Reynolds Carpenter. She graduated from Fair Park High School, in Shreveport, La., and attended Centenary College and Louisiana State University. She worked for Southern Bell of Louisiana for 10 years, where she was the personnel supervisor for the northern part of the state. In 1950, she married William Edwin Perrett Sr. The couple moved to Decatur in 1962, and they attended Oak Grove United Methodist Church for almost 40 years.
In 1965, Mrs. Perrett began working at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart, and continued to do so until her illness began in 2000. She loved and enjoyed the fashion industry.
Mrs. Perrett was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Perrett Sr.; brothers, John Calvin Carpenter, Ralph Carpenter, and James Garrard; and infant daughter, Nelle Dean Carpenter.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-laws, William and Russellyn Perrett, of Woodstock, and Michael and Anne Perrett, of Ball Ground; daughter and son-in-law, Dayle and Wendell Faulkner, of Watkinsville; two grandsons, three granddaughters, two great-grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all of their friends for the love and support, especially in the last few difficult years, as well as Mrs. Perrett's special caregivers, Sara, Denise, Melinda, and Janice, who were always so kind and compassionate.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, at Floral Hills Memorial Garden, in Tucker, with the Rev. Dick Hoard presiding.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Advantage, 2470 Daniels Bridge Rd. Ste. 171, Athens, GA 30606, or a charity of the giver's choice.
