Macon - Vanita Dolores "Dee" Martin Arnold, 76, passed away Tuesday afternoon at home under the care of Heartland Hospice. After a long and courageous battle with illness, she was surrounded by her family and longtime caregiver at the time of her death.

A service will be held in Athens at 2 p.m. on Friday at the Sexton's House at Oconee Hills Cemetery. Dr. Beth LaRocca-Pitts will officiate. Prior to her burial in Athens, the family will receive friends one hour before the service at Oconee House. In addition, the family will receive friends on Thursday night from 6 p.m. ñ 8 p.m. at Snow's Memorial Chapel on Cherry Street in Macon.
Mrs. Arnold was born in Athens, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Jack Martin and Mary Ann Hardy Martin. She lived in Macon for 50 years and was a legal secretary prior to her illness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. Her uncomplaining attitude and her strength during her long illness were an inspiration to all who knew her. She was always gracious and appreciative to everyone who cared for her over the years.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Edwin E. Arnold of Macon; two daughters, Deb Miller (Bob) of Statesboro and Lori Eagleson (Rich) of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Kate and Jenny Miller, Trevor, Brandon and Megan Eagleson; and her devoted caregiver, Brenda Watts.
