George Walker Dean III, age 61, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2012.
George was born in Athens on June 27, 1951, to Elizabeth B. Dean and the late George Walker Dean Jr. He graduated from Athens High School, attended the University of Georgia, and served in the Georgia National Guard. He owned and operated George's Place and later started Dean Clean Inc. He was always the life of the party, never meeting a stranger. He loved his family, and wasalways great with his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.
In addition to his mother, George is survived by his sister, Valerie DeVore, and her husband, Ted; brother, Wayne Dean, and his wife, Fran; niece, Monica Elrond, and her husband, Travis; nephews, Wayne Dean Jr., and his wife, Kelli, and Travis Dean; and great- nieces, McKenzie and Sydney Elrod, and Avery and Kendall Dean.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that memorials be made to Eagle Ranch Children's Home, P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30606-3871. Online condolences may be offered at
