Mr. Thomas Jackson Davis Jr. was born in Rome, Ga., on July 21, 1931, and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master of Science in Animal Science degree in 1955. He worked for the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service for 32 years. His entire career was dedicated to youth development through 4-H Club work.
In 1958, Mr. Davis married JoAnn Crawford, to whom he has been wed for 56 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Thomas "Tommy" Jackson Davis III, and his wife, Sheilah; grandsons, Thomas "Jackson" Davis IV and Mitchell Perry Davis; sister, Frances Lovell; niece, Beth Schuler, and her family; and uncle, William "Bill" Bussey.
Mr. Davis was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and is also survived by a loving church family.
Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 27, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 404 Washington Street NW, Gainesville. A family burial will be held at Trinity Methodist Church, in Durand.
