Leslie Ann Smith Andrews, of Social Circle, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, under the loving care of her family and St. Mary's Hospice Home, in Bogart, after a long illness.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at the family plot in Oconee Hill Cemetery, with a eulogy given by her son, John Andrews.
Ann was born on April 2, 1927, in Athens, the daughter of the late John Louis Smith and Ann Otis Ross Smith.
Ann attended Athens schools and, upon graduation from high school, she attended the University of Georgia, majoring in Library Science. She married Ambrose "Andy" Vernon Andrews on April 2, 1947. He predeceased her on August 19, 1989.
Ann was also predeceased by a daughter, Susan Kathleen "Kathy" Andrews, of Lawrenceville, on April 13, 2001, and a grandson, John Michael Andrews, of Danielsville, on August 17, 2010.
Ann is survived by a brother, Louis John Smith, of Marietta; five sons: Michael, and his wife, Kathi, of Danielsville, James, and his wife, Kimberly, of Buford, John, and his wife, Linda, of Blairsville, Robert "Tim," and his wife, Beth, of Maxeys, and William, and his wife, Mary, of Buford; and three daughters: Elizabeth "Betty" Hall, and her husband, Bill, of Social Circle, Carol Thomas, and her husband, Dr. John Thomas, of Roswell, and Leslie Andrews, of Athens. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Robert "Robbie" Parham, James Patrick Andrews Jr., Melissa Andrews Hatten, Dawn Andrews Walker, Erin Hall, Christopher "Kyle" Andrews, Morgan "Kelby" Andrews, Camden "Blake" Andrews, David Thomas, Matthew Andrews, Anna Andrews, Sarah Andrews, Dr. Tonia Shatzel, Ashley Christiansen, and her husband, Shawn, and Jonathan Lowder; 10 great-grandchildren: Alyssa and AJ Hatten, Charles Lemley, Courtney, Christina, and Corey Andrews, Krista Walker, Turner Shatzel, Layla Grier, and Ava Christiansen; a niece, Allison Watters; and a nephew, Craig Smith.
Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed the beauty of her flower garden, watching birds gather at her feeders, and putting countless puzzles together. Cricket, her toy poodle, was her constant and loyal companion. More than anything, Ann loved and adored her family.
