William Perry Joiner, age 82, of Eden Prairie, Minn., passed away on March 19, 2013, after a long illness.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Lee Kittle Joiner, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; his son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Terri Joiner, of Maple Grove, Minn.; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Arthur Monsen, of Palermo, Maine; four grandchildren: Holly Conroy, of Philadelphia, Pa., Steven Monsen, of Gdynia, Poland, Drew Joiner, currently at the University of Minnesota, and Danielle Joiner, currently at the University of Alabama. He was also the father of the late Michael Arthur Joiner, of Athens, Ga.
Perry was born in Athens and attended Athens High School. He spent four years in the Air Force during the Korean War, serving as an air traffic controller. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in Poultry Physiology & Genetics from the University of Georgia, and spent four years at Rutgers University, in New Jersey, for his Ph.D.
He retired after 25 years with Cobb Incorporated, of Concord, Mass., where he serviced their franchises in Europe, Scandinavia, and the Middle East, and later served as the Director of Research & Development, working out of their home office, in Concord.
After retiring from Cobb Incorporated, he worked at the Internal Revenue Service, in Andover, Mass., for nine years.
Perry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a licensed ham radio operator, a licensed pilot, and also loved sailing. In his senior years, he enjoyed researching his family's genealogy, playing the harmonica, and listening to and singing gospel hymns.
The family will hold a memorial service in Athens at a later date.
