Betty Fowler Russell, 78, of Athens, GA passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Silverleaf Centers for Alzheimer's Care in Athens, GA.
Mrs. Russell was born in Danielsville, GA on October 06, 1934, daughter of the late Oscar Haley Fowler and the late Vera Mae Crowe Fowler. She was a medical assistant having worked with Dr. Goodlow Irwin and was of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, A.T. Russell.
Survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, Branson (Norma) Fowler and Gary (Frances) Fowler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by two brothers, John Willis Fowler and George A. Fowler; sister, Ann Fowler McCombs.
The family wishes to thank Traci, Van and all the caregivers at Silverleaf Center for Alzheimer's Care of Athens for their years of caring for Mrs. Russell. The family would also like to thank Silverleaf Hospice for their care during her illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Russell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Linda McCord and Rev. Glenn Lyles officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until funeral hour on Sunday afternoon. The family is at their respective homes.
