I knew Dr. Dagley in a different way. He was the dad of one of my best friends growing up. As a child I would go to his house and play with Reagan his daughter. He never was cross with the antics we pulled. He always had a smile on his face and was always very welcoming. To the Dagleys I am truly sorry for your loss. To Reagan. I know you will miss him greatly. My family has you all in our thoughts. I do miss seeing you guys on Featherwood Hollow.

I was privileged to be his student at University of South Alabama. He was a phenomenal teacher, counselor, and friend. He offered encouragement. He looked at the heart of things, and wanted his students to learn help people. He wanted us to find the courage to be imperfect.

Dr. John C. Dagley was my mentor and friend, and one of the most positive forces I have ever encountered in humankind. I am beyond grateful for the time he spent with me, earnestly investing in my growth as a professional and a person. He was there with me through good times and bad, always believing in and encouraging me, and I truly would not be who I am today without his unwavering support and guidance. My heart goes out to his family, who were gracious enough to share him with so many as he went about his life's work. May peace be with you all.

Dr. Dagley will continue to be a great source of inspiration to many and his ideology and mentorship style will live on . In my limited time working with him as a TA, I was privileged to receive some gems of wisdom, observe how to truly educate and guide other, and obtain mentorship. I will continue to be curious and reflect fondly on being "a mess."
