Charlie Barber

Mr. Charlie Barber Sr., 83, of 4487 Wylies Mill Road passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Hospice and Community Care in Rock Hill.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Richburg with Dr. Benjamin Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Born in Chester County on Oct. 24, 1929, he was the son of the late Jessie Barber and Lizzie Talford Barber. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He was educated in the public schools of Chester County, was a member of William Upton Masonic Lodge No. 145 and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Douglas Barber; one son, L.C. Howze; three brothers, J.C. Barber, Tommy Barber and L.B. Barber; and one sister, Ollie Mae Miller.
Survivors are three sons, Charlie O. (Dorothy) Barber, David (Gloria) Douglas and Theodore (Diala) Curbeam; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a devoted cousin, Mozelle Robinson of Richburg; two sisters-in-law, Estelle Barber of Richburg and Lillian Douglas of Philadelphia; and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the home of Charlie and Dorothy Barber Jr., 4861 Lynn Road, Fort Lawn.
Viewing will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at King's Funeral Home, 135 Cemetery St., Chester.
