Mrs. Theresa Anita Whitesides McCrorey was born in Chester on Dec. 15, 1951, a daughter of the late Hugh and Bessie Whitesides. She passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017.
Anita was a graduate of Lancaster High School and she attended USC-Lancaster. Her greatest passion was children and education. She was a beloved substitute teacher with Chester County Schools. She taught preschool for numerous years at Creative World Daycare. She spent her last working years in Rock Hill at Communities and School caring for infants of teen mothers so they could continue their education.
After leaving the public school system, her main focus was her family and helping to raise her six grandchildren.
Anita became a devoted Jehovah's Witness in 1984. She enjoyed discussing the Bible and teaching others about her faith. Her conviction and love for her congregation was a guiding light for her, especially through the last few months.
Anita is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Robert Boyd McCrorey; her children, Saye McCrorey (Jennifer) of Richburg and Amber McCrorey Lunderville (Mike) of Tega Cay; her beloved grandchildren, Bailey, Avery, Asher, Olivia, Layla and Waylon; and her siblings, Bill Whitesides, Davis Whitesides and Trudy Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Bessie Whitesides.
The memorial celebrating Anita's legacy will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Chester.
