Mr. James Arledge Nichols Jr., 58, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Woodward Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Hinson officiating. Interment will follow in Chester Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Woodward Baptist Church, 1570 Ashford Road, Chester.
Mr. Nichols was born May 25, 1959, in Union, S.C. and was a son of Dorothy Smith Nichols and the late James Arledge Smith Sr. He was a graduate of Union High School and Winthrop University. Mr. Nichols was an Eagle Scout, a private pilot and a Pokemon professor. He was Director of the York County Dept. of Social Services. Mr. Nichols was a member of Woodward Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, Dorothy Nichols of Union, he is survived by his wife, Sheila Brunet Nichols; one son, James Arledge "Tripp" Nichols III; two sisters, Kakie White (Sam) of Union and Tweedie Mills (Mike) of Winnsboro; and one brother, Skee Nichols of Union.
