Mr. John Robert Poole Jr., 79, of Richburg died Wednesday, July 4, 201,2 at C.M. Tucker Jr. Nursing Care Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Wyatt officiating. The burial with full military honors will be at Chester Memorial Gardens, 985 West End Road, Chester.
Born in Gaffney, Mr Poole was the son of the late John Robert Poole Sr. and Mamie Childress Poole. He was a member and ordained deacon of Gospel Light Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years as a Chief Petty Officer, serving in Korea and Vietnam, and also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 22 years. He was a member of the VFW, the Richburg Masonic Lodge #89, the Hejaz Shrine Club,and was a retired volunteer fireman at the Richburg Fire Department. He was a member of Rolling Thunder, CMA Motor Cycle Club and Catawba Wings Club Chapter of York.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Grant Poole; son, John Robert Poole III and daughter in-law Carolyn Burbage Poole of Dorchester, S.C.; daughter, Cathy Poole Feldt and son in-law Jim Feldt of Surprize, Ariz.; brother, Charlie Poole of Easley; sister, Barbara Poole Love of Chester; four grandsons, Christopher Byrd, Eric Feldt, J.R. Poole IV and J.J. Poole; four great-grandchildren, Braxton Byrd, Bailey Byrd, Kadence Poole and Johnny Poole V; also surviving is his special friend Corey Hutto.
