The funeral for Mr. Kevin Richard King was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Calvary Baptist Church, 130 Walnut St., Chester. The Rev. Julia Hemphill officiated and was assisted by the Rev. Jeanette Mackey, the Rev. John Heath, the Rev. Tamara Gray-Pitts and Minister Anthony Grafton. Burial followed in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. King, 42, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Born in Chester County on May 26, 1975, he was a son of Virginia Grafton King and the late Beauregard King IV. Confessing Christ, Kevin became a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served on the Live Wire and Pre-Teen Usher Board. He was a member of the Young Adult Choir and served as Church Sexton along with his friend, Eddie Miller. He was employed as a machinist at a manufacturing company.
Kevin was a lovable, comical person and a joy to be around. Much happiness was brought to Kevin's life by spending time with his family and friends making memories. He enjoyed cooking, watching sports and fishing. Kevin will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Captain Beauregard King III, Sarah I. King, John H. Grafton and Mary Bell Grafton Stinson; an aunt, Juanita Carolyn King Mills; and a nephew, Alan Michael.
Kevin leaves his legacy of love and caring to his family, his loving daughter, Marah Angelica King; special friend, Melissa Satterfield; mother, Virginia Grafton King; brothers, Beauregard "Buddy" King V (Donna), Billy "Tony" Stewart (Dorothy) and Michael King (Sherri); aunts and uncles, Lillie Tillman (Samuel), John Roger Grafton, William T. Mills, John W. Dye, Alice D. Boulware, Eloise D. Gaston, Viola D. McCullough (Sam) and Janie Mae Mayfield; nieces and nephews, Daniel Miguel, Bianca Ashley, Olivia Gabrielle Robbins (Tirrell), Alexis Danielle, Tiyonna Amani, Justice Antonio, Anna Nicole, Courtney Allison, Isaiah Anthony, Eric Alexander, Baten McNally, Lauren Ashley and Aryn Brooke; extended family, Calvary Baptist Church family, Deacon Donald McNally, Deacon Will Smith (Dornetta), Robert S. Boyd Sr. and family, Eddie Miller, Noelle Miller, Ronald Stevenson, Donald Stevenson and Carlton Carter; one godsister, Gowasher Geneva "GeeGee" Boyd and Anthony Mercado; and a host of cousins, other loving family members and caring friends.
The family extends a special thank you to Calvary Baptist Church and the Chester High School Class of 1993.
