Bonnie Jean (Shoemaker) Bethel, 75 of Plattsmouth, Nebraska died Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at the Papillion Manor Nursing Home in Papillion, Neb. Visitation with family was Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Roby Funeral Home, Plattsmouth. Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug., 20, 2013, at First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth with Rev. Kurt Stecker and Rev. Larry Biederman officiating and Donna Glynn as organist. Pallbearers were Scott Carnes, Leonard Kaffenberger, Tony Moreno, Jerry Sands, Bob Shoemaker and Scott Shoemaker. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Plattsmouth. The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, Plattsmouth. Bonnie was born April 14, 1938, to James A. and Thelma Francis (Ingram) Shoemaker in Nebraska City, Neb. Bonnie was raised and schooled in Nebraska City. She attended and graduated from Nebraska City High School. Bonnie met and later married Jerry Glenn Bethel on Dec. 30, 1955, at First United Methodist Church in Plattsmouth. Bonnie and Jerry made their home on their farm northwest of Plattsmouth. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. Bonnie worked for 15 years at Shedd Foods and she also worked at Coast to Coast and True Value in Plattsmouth.
Bonnie was a 50-year member of First United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Women, and a member for 15 years of Teamsters Local No. 554.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Bethel of Plattsmouth, daughter Karen Carnes and husband Tracy of Glenwood; son Jerry Lynn Bethel of Plattsmouth; six grandchildren: Aimee Harviston and husband Justin of Bella Vista, Ark.; Crystal King and husband Carl of Bella Vista; Whitney Moyer and husband Ed of Nebraska City; Jess Bethel of Plattsmouth; Jenna Carnes of Glenwood; Kaylen Carnes of Glenwood; five great-grandchildren: Alexis Harviston, Emily Harviston, Camden King, Chesleigh King, Levi Harviston; and brother Ron Shoemaker and wife Betty of Nebraska City.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents James and Thelma Shoemaker; and grandmother Eva Ingram.
