Mamie Dale Rusch, 98, of Council Bluffs, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Risen Son. Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring, Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral services are Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at 3 p.m., at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery followed by refreshments at the Walnut Hill Reception Center, 1350 East Pierce St., Council Bluffs. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Church in Council Bluffs, Risen Son and Hospice of Southwest Iowa.
Mamie was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Stanberry, Mo., to Thomas and Mae Swarts McMahon. She graduated from Barnes Beauty College on Oct. 26, 1940, and also the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science on Dec. 2, 1944.
Mamie was co-owner of the Tyler-Rusch Funeral Home in Council Bluffs and operated MaeMe's Beauty Shop.
She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Naomi LeVier, Gretchen Hodges and Jane Stortenbecker; and brother Kenneth McMahon. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Southard, Omaha; son Bill Rusch and wife Karin, Council Bluffs; four grandchildren, Matt Cannon and wife Valiere; Amy Stevens; Adam Rusch and wife Ashley; and Eric Southard; four great-grandchildren, Beckett Stevens, Caleb Rusch, Jacob and Nathan Cannon; sister, Geraldine Perkins; nieces and nephews.
